Capital of Alps

Grenoble is the third-biggest city in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, after Lyon and Saint-Étienne. 450 000 inhabitants live in its agglomeration. It is located in the Alps mountain range, near the Swiss and the Italian borders. It has a 2000-year history, and its heritage includes the military fort of Bastille, the Place Victor Hugo and the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Grenoble. It is also a renowned student city, especially in the scientific fields.
